Bury & District Table Tennis League Latest News
12th May
The 2014 AGM of the Bury & District Table League will be held at Seedfield Methodist Church Hall on Monday 19 May 2014, starting at 7.45pm.
All Clubs are required to be represented at the AGM.
All Bury and District League players are eligible to attend the meeting.
The main purposes of the meeting are to receive the reports from Officers of the League and to elect the Committee members for the next year.
Unusually, this year a number of the current Committee are not standing for re-election. A number of other League players have indicated their wish to stand for election. Because of the substantial change in the composition of the Committee the present Committee is not proposing any rule amendments at the AGM. There will be an opportunity before the start of the season for rule amendments to be proposed by the new Committee (and any other player) and for them to be voted on.
At the time of writing the names of those who are likely to be standing for election are as follows:
President: Bob Goodman
Chairman: Brett Haslam
Vice-chairman: Derek Watmough
Treasurer: Rod Hughes
Match Secretary: Jack Berry
Secretary: Simon King
Tournament Secretary: Scott Fleming
Inter-League Secretary: Graham Jeffries
Coaching/Development: Mandy Winskill
Ordinary members: Steve Barber, Edward Freeman, Jason Wild, Steve Evans, Steve Hathaway, Ian McKenzie
If anyone else would like to stand for election as an Officer or Ordinary Committee member then they may attend the AGM and put forward their name.

A new side have been accepted into the 2nd division for the 2nd half of the season. They will play all matches for double points but are NOT eligible for promotion
The application of Rule 8B has been relaxed now. The rule was that when a player played 5 times in a side higher than the one to which he was originally assigned and ranked for then he MUST be re-ranked to the higher side making him ineligible for his original side. The application of this rule will now be when you have played in a higher side on 5 occasions then you must inform the match secretary on every occasion you intend to play for a higher side. Permission will then be granted/denied to remain ranked to your original side. Unless somebody is consistently scoring points in a higher side then my attitude will almost always be just to let people play. It was also clarified that cup matches DO NOT count towards the 5 appearances.

There are a number of matches still outstanding as we approach the 2nd half of the season. League rules state that matches can be played for in the 2nd half of the season for double points but the written (e-mail is fine) consent of both teams is required prior to the match night. Teams are reminded that neither they, nor their opponents, are under any obligation to play a match for double points.
