Division 1

Little Lever lost 2-8 at home to Ramsbottom Town A. Mick Moir and Andy Jackson won three each. Mark Ramsbottom lost to both Steve McNicholas and Phil Riley. Ramsbottom won the doubles.  Promoted team Prestwich B did well to take four points off leading Division contender Radcliffe Cricket Club. Graham Jeffries was unbeaten for Radcliffe and Rob Hall won two. Mick Dore was unable to get on the score card being beaten by Bryan Beer, Dave Bolton and Andy Evans who also beat Rob Hall. Radcliffe won the doubles. Prestwich A lost 4-6 at home to Burning Desire. Despite five of the ten sets going the distance Prestwich ended up on the losing side. Colin Boardman and Dave Cheetham each won two for Prestwich. Ben Armstrong was the unbeaten player on the night for Burning Desire. Steve Barber and Andy Kaye each added one and they won the all important doubles to get the win. Carlton Club A drew with BAE at home. Ian Quinn and Phil Myers each won two for Carlton and Kevin Chapman won one. Tony Smith and Tony Bates each won two and they won the doubles.

 

Division 2

Prestwich D showed their dominance on the night by beating Holmar A 9-1 at home. Their sole win was by Phil Wardle against Keith Butler. Joe Redikin and Steve Hathaway were the unbeaten players for Prestwich. Carlton Vale lost 0-10 at home to an in form S.P.Carlton. Tommy Ryan continued his unbeaten form this season with team mates John Biggins and Dave Holden each winning their three on the night. ELPM A lost 2-8 at home to an in form Prestwich E. Only Gillian Marsden got on the score card for the home team when she beat Barrie Fleet at eight in the forth in the first set of the night. They also had a comfortable win in the doubles at four in the forth. Alex Waring and Mohammed Sagied were unbeaten for Prestwich and Barrie Fleet won two. Polish Catholic Club drew with Prestwich A but none of the home team was able to beat David Poytress on the night. Julian Nuttall and Andy Hamilton each added one to Seedfields score. Ian Byre won two for Polish, Eddie Kalinowski and Liquat Ali each won one. Elton Vale A lost 1-9 at home to Maccabi A. Graham Daniels won the one set for Elton against Alan Meltzer. Dean Clyne and Stuart Landes were unbeaten for Maccabi and they won the doubles.

 

Division 3

Seedfield B beat Shawfield A 7-3 at home and it was Alan Telfer who led the way for Seedfield by winning his three. Mike Charlton just winning his three when he lost to Paul Nutter at nine in the fifth for Paul’s only win on the night. Ian Boyle also won two. Terry Shaw beat Ian Boyle in the last set of the night at four in the forth. Shawfield won the doubles in three straight. Elton Vale B drew at home with Carlton Club C where Rod Hall was unbeaten for the home side. They were looking for a big win when they led the match four one but Carlton made a strong comeback to get the draw. Keith Mills and Jim Bollard each added one. John Bostock and Steve Evans each won two for Carlton and they won the doubles. Shawfield B lost 2-8 at home to ELPM B. Wayne Ellis was the only Shawfield player to get on the score card with two wins but Carol Mitchell was too good on the night with three wins for ELPM. Gerry Faulkner and Steve Greaves each added two and they won the doubles. Ramsbottom Town B drew at home with Maccabi B and Martin Ormsby was unbeaten for the home side though he went the full distance in his first and last set of the night. A tight tussle against reserve Marc Sheldon Martin won at six in the fifth. Against Melvyn Levene he came through at seven in the fifth. Roger Whewell added one and they won the doubles at eleven in the forth. Division 4

Holmar C won their first match of the season helped by their opponents Prestwich G turning up with only two players. Roy Steventon, Jack Berry and Gerald Quemeneur each won two. They all lost to Bob Goodman who was unbeaten on the night. Prestwich also won the doubles. Maccabi E beat under strength Bury Grammar School Old Boys A 9-1 at home. Martyn Warburton was the only home player to get on the score card beating Peter Canter. Edward Freeman and Bobby Lee were both unbeaten for Maccabi. Maccabi D lost 3-7 at home to Shawfield C. Sheldon Lee won two for the home side and Buz Cohen won  the last set of the at ten in the fifth against Roger Snowden. Roger Snowden, Ashley Ingham and Peter Gregory each won two and won the doubles at seven in the fifth. Ramsbottom TT Academy A beat Holmar B 7-3 at home where Callum Stott and Tom Warburton both came from two games down to win in five. Tom Warburton won at six in the fifth against Ian Ferrari after losing the first two games five and four. Callum Stott beat Ian Ferrari at three in the fifth. Ramsbottom also won the doubles in three straight. Reserve Dominic Siddall was so close to a win in his first set eventually losing at eleven in the fifth against Alan Hibbert. Alan, Ian and John Millington each won one for Holmar. Maccabi F lost 2-8 at home to top of the division Prestwich F. Reserve Ian Ross was unbeaten for Prestwich, Alistair Wakefield lost his first set of the season to Alan Nesbitt and Paul Rourke lost only his second set of the season to Jack Nesbit. Prestwich won the doubles.

 

Division 5

Junior team Shawfield G beat Seedfield E 7-3 at home. Joshua Fallows was unbeaten for the home team, James Aadahl won two, Sam Burgoyne one and they added the doubles. Andy Wood won two for Seedfield and Jim Murray one. Seedfield D lost 2-8 at home. James Collier was unbeaten for Shawfield, Peter Helmn and Lauren Brassington each added two and they won the doubles at ten in the third. Ian McKenzie won the opening set of the night for Seedfield beating Peter Helmn at nine in the third. Steve Greenall added the other win. Holmar D drew at home with Wardle where David Watts won his customary three for Wardle. Harry Barlow added one and they won the doubles. David Bell and Alan Fletcher each won two for Holmar and Gary Bolton won one. Shawfield F drew at home to Holmar E. Scott Fleming won two for Shawfield, Jason Wild and Graham Broomhead each won one and they won the doubles. Nigel Shaw was unbeaten for the visitors, John Heyes won one and they won the doubles.
