DIVISION ONE
Prestwich A travelled to Little Lever with the hosts winning 6-4. In a match where the home players all lost once the visitors who fielded 3 reserves, Dave Bolton, Peader McKinstry & Andy Evans with each beating a different Little Lever player. Seedfield A lost 6-4 to Ramsbottom C. This close match also had no unbeaten players with Rob Carter (Seedfield) and Dave Kay & Martin Wyatt for Ramsbottom each winning 2. Ramsbottom A & Radcliffe CC both had resounding 9-1 wins to increase the gap at the top.
DIVISION TWO
St Philips B kept up their recent good form with a 7-3 win against Seedfield B. Gareth Palmer won his 3 for St Philips with Dave Holden chipping in with 2 whilst Julian Nuttall picked up 2 for Seedfield. Prestwich C kept their promotion push on track with a 7-3 win at Carlton B. Eddie Simon won his 3 to maintain his three wins lead as Top Ten Leader. Peader McKinstry (Prestwich) & Mark Reading (Carlton) each won 2. Prestwich B closed the gap on their C team to go level at the top with a 9-1 win at Maccabi A. Maccabi’s sole win coming when former Prestwich player Alan Meltzer beat reserve Steve Hathaway in the 5th game. In the all Prestwich match the D team beat the E team 6-4. Steve Hathaway (D team) beat Barrie Fleet 11-8 in the 5th to complete 3 victories. Keith Butler (E team) beat Craig Bradbury to record 2 wins whilst Craig also picked up 2 on the night.
DIVISION THREE
In a close match where 4 matches went to 5 and 5 matches went 4, Seedfield C emerged as 6-4 winners against Shawfield B. Alan Carse was unbeaten for Seedfield, with his 3 including a win at 13-11 in the 5th against Top Ten Leader Wayne Ellis. Dave Stubbington won 2 for Shawfield, but a doubles win for Seedfield at 11-9 in the 5th proved decisive. Elton Vale SC convincingly returned to winning ways with a 9-1 win against Seedfield D. Dave Hall & Rodney Hall each won 3 for Elton Vale with Paul Cooper beating Keith Mills at 11-7 in the 5th to record Seedfield’s sole win. St Sebastians fought out a tight draw with ELPM C. Gillian Marsden (ELPM) recorded 3 wins with Dave Hargreaves & Mark Stevens each winning 2 for St Sebastians.
DIVISION FOUR
Leaders Carlton C travelled to Prestwich F winning 7-3 with Steve Evans their unbeaten player. John Bostock & Keith Cheyne supported him with 2 wins each. Alistair Wakefield & Rod Hughes each won 1 & combined to take the doubles for Prestwich. Second place Maccabi C also won 7-3 against Holmar B to remain 1 point behind Carlton with a game in hand. Robert Clayton (Maccabi) was unbeaten following his victory over in-form Jim Eardley who picked up 2 wins. Sheldon Lee (Maccabi) also won 2. Shawfield C had a good win, 6-4 against BGSOB A to keep in touch with the leaders. In a match where no player was unbeaten, Top Ten Leader Barry Warburton lost for only the 4th time this season. Ashley Ingham & Peter Gregory for Shawfield and Martyn Warburton for BGSOB each picked up 2 wins. Sheldon Lee & Marc Sheldon each won 3 to help Maccabi D to a 7-3 win against Holmar C. Ian Ferrari & Jack Berry each won 1 for Holmar whilst Buz Cohen (Maccabi) beat John Millington (Holmar). Shawfield D scored a maximum 10-0 win against Seedfield E.
DIVISION FIVE
Leaders Maccabi E strengthened their grip on top spot with a 6-4 victory at Prestwich G. Edward Freeman (Maccabi) inflicted a 1st defeat of the season on Bob Goodman (Prestwich) after losing to Ian Ross (Prestwich). All the above 3 players won 2 as did Bobby Lee (Maccabi) with Peter Canter (Maccabi) picking a win over Scott Hill. Second placed Wardle were held to a draw by Shawfield F. For Wardle Dave Watts won 3 but they could only add Harry Barlow’s 1 win & a doubles success. Shawfield’s wins were 2 each for Jason Wild & Scott Fleming and a single for Peter Helmn. Ramsbottom Academy A made it 4 wins on the trot with a 9-1 success against Holmar D whose sole win was Alan Fletcher’s victory against Tom Warburton. In a match where all players lost at least once Seedfield F ran out 6-4 winners against BGSOB B. Top Ten Leader John Greenhalgh lost one and like Mike Ollerton & Jamie Howarth for Seedfield picked up 2 wins. ELPM D’s Andy Caunce & Lawrence Paynter each won 3 to guide them to 7-3 win over Holmar E. Maccabi F & Shawfield G each recorded 10-0 wins against Ramsbottom Academy B & Seedfield G respectively.
