DIVISION ONE

David Poytress saved the day for Seedfield A when he took the solitary win for his team when he beat Graham Young nine, eight and nine. The doubles was a very close match which Ramsbottom won at nine in the fifth. Peter Mears took Graham Hoy to a fifth game which Graham won at four. Julian Nuttall for Seedfield also took Graham Young to a fifth which Graham eventually won at eight. Mark Ramsbottom and Graham Hoy were unbeaten for Ramsbottom. Prestwich C beat their B team 8-2 but the result helped by Colin Boardman for the B team  retiring ill after playing less than one set. Only Rob Beli could get one the score card for the B team beating Dave Bolton but they added the doubles. Andy Evans and Eddie Simon were unbeaten for the C team. Understrength Maccabi A lost 2-8 at home to Burning Desire. Dean Clyne had two fine wins for Maccabi for their only points. Steve Barber was unbeaten for the away team, Ben Armstrong and Brett Haslam each added two. Prestwich A beat BAE 6-4 at home and Ian McLean led the way for the home team with three wins. Andrew Tarpey added two and Paul King one. Tony Smith, Tom Lang and Ian Gerrard each won one for BAE plus they won the doubles. Little Lever lost 3-7 at home to Radcliffe. Rob Hall and Phil Biggs were unbeaten for the visitors and Mick Dore added one win. Phil Riley and Dennis Collier each added one for Little Lever and they won the doubles.

 

 

DIVISION TWO

Elton Vale A beat Prestwich F 6-4 at home and it was reserve Frank Green’s one win for Elton which edged the win. Graham Daniels and Martin Nicholls each won two for the home side and they won the doubles. Mohammed Sagied was unbeaten for Prestwich and Alex Waring added the other win. Eddie Robakowski stopped the whitewash of his team Polish Catholic Club when he beat Dave Scowcroft of Carlton Club B at nine in the fourth. Tommy Ryan and Dave Holden were unbeaten for Carlton though Dave had to go to five against Eddie Robakowski and Carlton just won the doubles at six in the fifth. Prestwich D whitewashed their E team to keep their promotion hopes high. Peadar McKinstry, Bryan Beer and Nathan Buckley were the unbeaten D team players. Carlton Club C lost 4-6 at home to ELPM A. John Foster won two as did Mark Reading who lost deuce, deuce and deuce to Rob Carter who was unbeaten for ELPM. Ian Cockcroft and Dave Varney each added one and they won the doubles.

 

DIVISION THREE

Top of the table met next to the bottom with a 10-0 win for Prestwich G at home and confirms why they are top of the table after being promoted from division four just last season. Paul Rourke, Alistair Wakefield and Rod Hughes were the unbeaten Prestwich players. Despite Wayne Ellis for the home team Shawfield A winning his three he ended up on the losing side. Ernie Watkins and Bob Mitchell were unable to add to Shawfield’s wins against Elton Vale B. Jim Bollard, Keith Mills and Rodney Hall each won two for the visitors and they won the doubles. Maccabi C lost 3-7 at home to promotion contenders Carlton D. Daniel Sheldon won two for the home side and brother Marc added one. John Bostock won his three for Carlton which edges him one win ahead of Steve Evans who won two on the night. Keith Cheyne added one and they won the doubles. ELPM B over whelmed Ramsbottom Town C 9-1 at home. Only Martin Ormsby could get on the score card for Ramsbottom when he beat Steve Greaves. DIVISION FOUR

Holmar B beat Shawfield D 6-4 at home. John Millington was unbeaten for Holmar. Alan Hibbert added two and Jack Berry one. Barry Collier won two for Shawfield, Brain Philip one and they won the doubles. Seedfield C lost 3-7 at home to Maccabi E. Stephen Siddall took the opening set of the night for Seedfield when he beat Peter Canter two, eight and seven. Stephens other win came when he beat newcomer David End five, nine and six. Seedfields other win came when Phil Cooper beat David eleven, nine and six. Alan Nesbitt was unbeaten for Maccabi, Peter Canter won two, David one and they won the doubles. ELPM C lost 3-7 at home against promotion contenders Prestwich H. John Edge, Harry Uren and reserve Lawrence Paynter each beat Ian Connell of Prestwich. Bob Goodman and Joe Walk were unbeaten for the visitors and they won the doubles. The top team in the division showed why they are in this position with an emphatic 10-0 win at home to bottom placed Shawfield E. Barry Warburton, Martyn Warburton and Andy Evans were the unbeaten players. Shawfield C lost 4-6 at home to Maccabi D. Terry Shaw just lost out on his treble for Shawfield when he was beaten at two in the fifth in the last set of the night. In the opening set of the night Terry faired a bit better when he beat Alan Nesbitt at nine in the fifth. Phil Herd and Paul Nutter each added one for Shawfield. Fairly new signing Scott Marshall was unbeaten for Maccabi, Frank Sheldon and Alan Nesabitt each added one and they won the doubles at eight in the fourth.

 

DIVISION FIVE

Holmar D lost 4-6 at home to Wardle A. Jack Gratton was unbeaten for Wardle, David Watts lost at nine in the fifth against John Heyes to win two and they won the doubles. John won two for Holmar, Nigel Shaw and Graham Wardle each added one. Ian Barton won his three for Wardle B but still lost 3-7 at home to Seedfield D. Ian McKenzie, Adam Simpson and Andrew Webster each won two for Seedfield and they won the doubles. Junior team Maccabi F drew at home to Shawfield F. Maz Kham was the unbeaten player on the night for the visitors though Nathan Jacobs took him close losing at nine in the fifth. Jason Wild added two wins to Shawfield’s tally and also had a tight set winning at nine in the fifth over Daniel Olsberg. Adam Gilman won two for Maccabi, Nathan and Daniel each added one and they won the doubles at eleven in the fourth.
