A special mention about a Sponsors Cup match from last week where the top team in division one met the bottom team in division five. Seedfield G from the bottom of division five received almost the maximum possible handicap for their players against Ramsbottom Town A in division one. Ramsbottom had to try and make up 324 points over the nine sets of four games played. Ramsbottom A made good progress but with three sets to play there were still ninety eight points to catch up. Graham Young took the next set 44-8 against Barry Simpson .It was then the turn of Andy Jackson to play Graham Wright and he won 44-9.  So with a set to go Mick Moir had to win by twenty eight points against Jim Murray and won by thirty two! An incredible achievement for Ramsbottom A and it adds weight to the Individual Handicap system in only its second season with two drawn matches and a win by one point.
