DIVISION ONE
Ramsbottom Town A beat Burning Desire 8-2 at home and it was Martin Whyatt who was undefeated for the home team with Graham Young and Mark Ramsbottom each adding two and they won the doubles. Only Steve Barber could get on the score card for Burning Desire with the two wins. Prestwich A lost 3-7 at home to Radcliffe Cricket Club though there were a lot of close games. Khamal Hussain and Dave Cheetham each won one for the home side and they won the doubles. Jim Chadwick and Rob Hall were unbeaten for Radcliffe with Mick Dore adding one. Prestwich B drew at home to St.Philips though it was the visiting teams’ player Dennis Collier who was unbeaten, Clive Taylor added one and they won the doubles. Andy Evans and Dave Bolton each won two for Prestwich with Bryan Beer getting the vital one for the draw.
DIVISION TWO
S.P.Carlton overwhelmed Holmar A who are secure at the foot of the division after a 9-1 beating. Phil Wardle saved the whitewash for Holmar when he had a fine win over Tommy Ryan in the opening set of the night at seven in the forth. They narrowly lost the doubles at six in the fifth. David Fletcher of Holmar just lost out in the last set of the night losing to Tommy Ryan at seven in the fifth. John Biggins and Dave Holden were the unbeaten players for S.P.Carlton. The match between Prestwich D and Seedfield A started off in fine form with home team player Mohammed Sagied taking the win from Seedfield David Poytress in a very close game set at twelve in the fifth. Steve Hathaway added one and he teamed up with Keith Butler to win the doubles in three straight. David Poytress and Peter Mears each won two for Seedfield and Andy Hamilton added one. Polish Catholic Club beat Carlton B 7-3 at home. Eddie Kalinowski was unbeaten for Polish, Liaqat Ali won two, Eddie Robakowski won one and they won the doubles. Jim Bloomfield, John Foster and Mark Reading each won one for the visitors. Carlton Vale lost 4-6 at home to Maccabi A and Stuart Landes led the way for the visitors with three wins, Dean Clyne to and Alan Meltzer one. Chris Sutcliffe won two for Carlton, Dave Jackson one and they won the doubles.
DIVISION THREE
Seedfield B lost 4-6 at home to Ramsbottom Town B. Neil Booth was the unbeaten player on the night for the visitors. Only Roger Whewell could add to the wins with two and they won a close doubles at six in the fifth. Martin Ormsby unusually lost all his three. Finding his form after a number of years away from the game Ian Boyle won two for Seedfield. Mike Charlton and Alan Telfer each added one but Alan was so close against Roger Whewell eventually losing at ten in the fifth. Mike Charlton lost at nine in the fifth to Roger. Shawfield B drew at home to Carlton Club C. Wayne Ellis and Dave Stubbington each won two and they won the doubles. John Bostock and Steve Evans each won two for the visitors and Keith Cheyne added one. Elton Vale Sports Club B beat Maccabi B 6-4 at home and david Hall was the unbeaten player for the home team. Keith Mills won two and Jim Bollard added one. Robert Clayton won two for the visitors< Marc Sheldon added one and they won the doubles.
DIVISION FOUR
Holmar C lost 0-10 against the Division leaders Prestwich F and it was Alistair Wakefield, Paul Rourke and Ian Ross who inflicted all of the damage for Prestwich. Maccabi E lost 3-7 against Shawfield C. Roger Snowden and Peter Gregory was the unbeaten Shawfield players and Andrew Webster added the one win. Peter Canter and Edward Freeman each won one and they won the doubles. Maccabi D lost 4-6 to their F team and it was Alan Nesbitt who was unbeaten on the night for the F team. Sheldon Lee took Alan close in his match but just lost out at seven in the fifth. Yoni Morrison added two for the F team and they won the doubles in three straight. Sheldon won two for the D team, Buz Cohen and Aubrey Huller each added one. Shawfield D drew at home to Prestwich G. Barry Collier won two for Shawfield, Brian Philip and Alistair McIver each won one and they won the doubles. Bob Goodman was unbeaten for Prestwich and Ian Connell added two. Junior team Ramsbottom TT Academy A lost 4-6 at home to Bury Grammar School Old Boys A. Barry Warburton had too much experience for the juniors winning his three with Martyn Warburton adding two and they took the doubles. Callum Stott won two for Ramsbottom, Tom Warburton and Ben Farrar each won one. Bury Grammars error free play showed in the two sets that went to five where Tom against Barry was Barry won at six in the fifth and Ben against Martyn which Martin won at ten in the fifth.
DIVISION FIVE
Seedfield Methodists D had the opportunity to win their home match against ELPM D because they were up against a team of only two players. However Anthony Vindice was on top form for the visitors winning all of his three, Mario Piazza added one and they won a tense doubles at ten in the fifth. Steve Greenall won two for Seedfield but losing a tense four game set against Anthony Vindice at fifteen, four, winning at seventeen, nine. Mike Ollerton also won two and Ian McKenzie added one. Junior team Shawfield G could only win one set off their E team when James Aadahl beat Peter Helm. James Collier and Scott Fleming each won their three and they won the doubles. Holmar E drew at home with Bury Grammar School Old Boys B. John Greenhalgh was unbeaten for the visitors and John Rowlands added two. Nigel Shaw won two for Holmar, Graham Wardle and John Heyes one each and they won the doubles. Holmar D beat the junior team from Ramsbottom Academy B 9-1 at home and it was Dominic Siddall who got the solitary win for the visitors in a close five games over Gary Bolton. There were a lot of close games for Ramsbottom but they just fell short at vital times. Divisional averages leader David bell won his customary three, 78 years old Alan Fletcher matched those wins and Gary won two. Another junior team Maccabi G beat Seedfield E 8-2 at home. Ashley Landes and Sam Ballin were the unbeaten players for Maccabi, Yoni Fink added one and they won the doubles. Graham Wright for Seedfield beat Yoni Fink at five in the fifth and lost at twelve in the fifth to Ashley Landes to just miss out on his second win. John Duxbury Also won one beating Yoni in three straight. Shawfield F lost 4-6 at home to Wardle though Scott Fleming was unbeaten for the home team. Only Graham Broomhead could add to their score with one win. Jack Gratton and Peter ward each won two for Wardle, eighty two year old Harry Barlow added one and they won the doubles.
