Division 1

Radcliffe Cricket Club beat Little Lever 7-3 and it was a rare appearance of the Bury Champion Graham Jeffries who led the way for the home team being unbeaten on the night. Nigel Hallows added two, Mick Dore one and they won the doubles. Ronnie Durose won two for the visitors and Phil Riley one. Carlton Club A beat Ramsbottom Town C 7-3 at home and Ian Quinn and Gary Newton were the unbeaten players for Carlton won also won the doubles. Dave Kaye, Graham Hoy and Les Phillipson each won one for the visitors. St.Philips A beat Seedfield A 7-3 at home and Derek Watmough was unbeaten on the night for the home team. Dennis Collier added two, Clive Taylor one plus the doubles. David Poytress won two for Seedfield and Peter Mears one. Ramsbottom Town A beat Burning Desire 9-1 at home and Mick Moir and Andy Jackson were unbeaten and it was Callan Tolliday who won the one set for the visitors beating Graham Young.

 

Division 2

Seedfield B were on good form in their home match against Carlton Club B winning 9-1.Four of the five sets that went to five went the way of the home team in some very tight matches. Julian Nuttall and reserve Mike Charlton were unbeaten on the night for Seedfield, Andy Hamilton added two and they won the doubles. Mark Reading was the only player for Carlton who had a win which was over Andy Hamilton at five in the fifth. A doubles win at seven in the fifth for Prestwich E gave them the 6-4 win at home to St.Philips B. Ken Crimes and Keith Butler each won two for Prestwich and Barrie Fleet one plus they won the doubles. Gareth Palmer won his three for the visitors and John Biggins one. ELPM A lost 3-7 at home to Prestwich C and it was top of the averages leader Eddie Simon who was unbeaten on the night for the visitors. Peadar McKinstry added two, Joe Redikin one and they added the doubles. John Dawes won two for ELPM and reserve Gerry Faulkner one. Prestwich D drew with Polish Catholic Club and Mick Hill for the visitors was playing one of his last matches before moving to Canada. He went out in style with three wins. Ian Byrne added two. Paul Howarth won two for the home team, Alex Waring one and Steve Hathaway squandered a fight back from six ten down in the fifth to draw level then only to lose ten twelve. Maccabi A beat Stand 7-3 at home and it was Stuart Landes and Alan Meltzer who were unbeaten on the night for the home team. Reserve Robert Clayton added one win. Dave Jackson and Steve Morris each won one and Chris Sutcliffe unusually lost all his three. Stand won the doubles.

 

Division 3

Seedfield D drew at home with St. Sebastians and there were some very tight sets with five needing a fifth game. Dave Hargreaves was on top form for the visitors and was unbeaten but only Dave Stevens could add to the score line with one win and they won the doubles at seven in the fifth. Alistair McKernan and Phil Cooper each won two for Seedfield and Alan Telfer one. Elton Vale TT Club beat Seedfield C 8-2 at home. Graham Daniels for the home team is top of the averages by quite a margin though ELPM B has two matches in hand so may close the gap. They are well ahead at the top of the division and look likely to be in division two next season. Mike Nichols and Mark Craven each added two and they won the doubles. Division 4

Carlton Club C beat Shawfield D 9-1 at home and Steve Evans and Keith Cheyne were unbeaten for the home team. Clive Roberts added two and they won the doubles. Alistair Ingham won the one for Shawfield. BGSOB A over powered Seedfield E who had two reserves in their 0-10 beating away. Barry and Martyn Warburton plus Andy Evans were the unbeaten players for Bury Grammar. Prestwich F beat Maccabi D 8-2 at home and it was Alistair Wakefield who was unbeaten on the night for the home side with Richard Hinchcliffe and Paul Rourke who added two each plus the doubles. Sheldon Lee won the two for Maccabi. Holmar C beat their B team 6-4 and Ian Ferrari was on top form for the C team with three wins, Jack Berry added two and John Millington one. Alan Hibbert won two for the B team, Martin Archer one plus the doubles. Shawfield C lost 4-6 at home to Ramsbottom Town D where Roger Whewell was unbeaten on the night for the visitors. Paul Wood added two and they won the doubles. Peter Gregory won two for Shawfield, Ashley Ingham and Andrew Webster one each. Shawfield E were overwhelmed by Maccabi C losing 1-9 at home and they just managed a win in the doubles. Robert Clayton, Less Suss and Frank Sheldon were unbeaten for the visitors. Hilton YMCA beat ELPM C 7-3 at home with Chris Naylor and Alan Cowley being unbeaten for the home team. They also won the doubles. Gillian Marsden, John Edge and Harry Uren each won one for the visitors.

 

Division 5

Seedfield F beat Holmar D 6-4 at home. Adam Simpson and Mike Ollerton were unbeaten on the night for the home team. Gerald Quemeneur, Graham Wardle and David Bell each won one for the visitors and they won the doubles. Seedfield G lost 1-9 at home to Shawfield F and it was Antony Heyes who won the one set for the home team when he beat Graham Broomhead. Jason Wild and Scott Fleming were unbeaten for Shawfield and they won the doubles. Holmar E lost 3-7 at home to Wardle but Nigel Shaw for the home team was unbeaten. Peter Ward, Harry Barlow and Jack Gratton each won two for the visitors and they added the doubles. ELPM D lost 3-7 at home. Mario Piazza, Lawrence Paynter and Anthony Vindice of ELPM each beat David Jeffrey of BGSOB. The John’s Greenhalgh and Rowlands were unbeaten for the visitors. Ramsbottom TT Academy B lost 4-6 at home to Prestwich G who are very close in the promotion stakes with Ramsbottom TT Academy A and Maccabi F. The last few matches will be very interesting. Domonic Siddall, Daniel Allen and Olivia Wallis from the home team all beat Scott Hill and they also won a tight doubles at four in the fifth. Bob Goodman was unbeaten on the night to keep his lead in the averages and Ian Ross was also unbeaten.
