DIVISION ONE

Prestwich B beat their C team 8-2 at home and it was Andy Evans who led the way for the B team with three wins. Bryan Beer and Dave Bolton each added two and they won the doubles. Lee Devenport and Peadar McKinstry each won one for the C team. Radcliffe CC beat St.Philips 9-1 at home and only the doubles went the way of the visitors. Jim Chadwick, Graham Jeffries and Mick Dore all won their three for Radcliffe. Prestwich A drew with Carlton Club A. Duncan Hadfield won his three for the home side and Colin Boardman added two. Ian Quinn won two for Carlton, Phil Myers and Gary Newton each won one and they won the doubles. Ramsbottom Town A beat BAE 7-3 at home and Michael Moir opened his 2011-12 account with three wins. Andy Jackson and Graham Young each won two but they couldn’t take the doubles off the current Bury Doubles Champions. Tom Lang and Toney Bates each won one for BAE.

 

DIVISION TWO

Seedfield A beat Carlton Club B 7-3 at home but it was Mark Reading for the visitors who was unbeaten on the night. This included a very close match with Peter Mears who eventually lost at three in the fifth. Andy Hamilton for Seedfield had to go to five for both of his wins when he first beat Jim Bloomfield at six in the fifth then John Foster at eight in the fifth. Julian Nuttall and Peter Mears also won two each and they won the doubles in three straight. Holmar A lost 1-9 at home to Maccabi A and it was Phil Wardle who had the solitary win for Holmar with a win over Dean Clyne. Stuart Landes and Alan Meltzer were both unbeaten for Maccabi and they won the doubles. S.P.Carlton beat Prestwich E 6-4 at home where Tommy Ryan was the unbeaten player for the home team. Dave Holden won two and John Biggins one. The doubles was a tight contest eventually going the way of Prestwich at nine in the fifth. Alex Waring beat John Biggins at four in the forth. Ken Crimes beat John Biggins at ten in the forth and Barrie Fleet beat Dave Holden at four in the fifth. Another close set was Dave Holden for SP Carlton who beat Alex Waring at eight in the fifth. Prestwich D drew at home to ELPM A. Steve Hathaway and Mohammed Sagied each won two and Joe Redikin won one. John Dawes and Paul Carter each won two for EPLM A and they won the doubles. Third player Gillian Marsden went to five with two of her matches and lost at seven with Steve Hathaway and five with Mohammed Sagied. She lost sixteen eighteen in the fourth in her match with Joe Redikin. Polish Catholic Club beat Elton Vale A 6-4 at home. Ian Byrne was on top form winning his three, Eddie Kalinowski won two and Eddie Robakowski one. Mark Craven won two for the visitors, Graham Daniels one and they won the doubles.

 

 

DIVISION THREE

Seedfield C lost 2-8 at home to Shawfield A only Phil Cooper was able to get on the score card for Seedfield with two wins. Terry Shaw was unbeaten for Shawfield, Phil Herd and Paul Nutter each won two and they won the doubles. ELPM B drew at home with Maccabi B. Steve Greaves and Carol Mitchell each won two for the home side and they added the doubles. Melvyn Levene and reserve Alan Nesbitt each won two for Maccabi and Robert Williams added one for the draw. Shawfield B lost 4-6 at home to Seedfield B. Deo Jones maintained his unbeaten record by winning his three for Seedfield, Mike Charlton two and Phil Cooper one. Ashley Ingham won two for the home team, Wayne Ellis one and they added the doubles. Maccabi C beat Ramsbottom Town B 7-3 at home with Frank Sheldon and Les Suss showing the way with three wins each. Marc Sheldon added the other win and was close to his second win when in the last set of the night Marc lost at three in the fifth to Joe Walk. Joe won one for Ramsbottom as did Roger Whewell and they won the doubles. Hilton YMCA beat Elton Vale B 7-3 at home and they were aided by new signing Mingh Le who won his three as did Alan Cowley. Barry Walsh won the other set. Keith Mills and Rodney Hall won one each for Elton and they won the doubles.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

DIVISION FOUR

Maccabi E beat Holmar C 8-2 at home and Peter Canter and Bobby Lee led the way with three wins each for the home team. Stuart Simpson added two. Only Gerald Quemeneur was able to get on the score card for Holmar with one win plus they won the doubles. Two promoted teams from Division five met at it was the junior team of Ramsbottom TT Academy A who beat Maccabi F 7-3 at home. Alan Nesbit was the unbeaten player on the night but finished on the losing side. Callum Stott, Nick Kroll and Tom Warburton each won two for the Academy and they won the doubles at seven in the fifth to maintain their unbeaten doubles record. BGSOB A lost 4-6 at home to Shawfield C.  Barry Warburton was unbeaten on the night for Bury Grammar and Martyn added one. Roger Snowden and Ashley Ingham each won two for Shawfield, Peter Gregory one and they won the vital doubles at eight in the forth. Richard Hinchcliffe of Prestwich G won his three but still finished on the losing side when his team could only add the doubles in their match away to Holmar B. The doubles was a close affair when Prestwich finally won at eight in the fifth. Alan Hibbert, Ian Ferrari and Roy Steventon each won two for Holmar. Shawfield D lost 2-8 at home to Maccabi D. Buz Cohen and Sheldon Lee were unbeaten for the visitors and Aubrey Huller added two. Andrew Ingham won one for Shawfield and they won the doubles.

 

DIVISION FIVE

Seedfield E lost 0-10 at home to Shawfield E. James Collier, Scott Fleming and Peter Helmn were the unbeaten Shawfield players. In the opening set of the night Scott Fleming just got the better of Andy Wood for Seedfield who lost at twelve in the fifth. |Junior team Shawfield G lost 2-8 at home to Holmar D and it was James Aadahl who won the two for Shawfield. David Bell was unbeaten for the visitors, Gary Bolton and Alan Fletcher each won two and they won the doubles. Another junior team Ramsbottom Table Tennis Academy lost 0-10 away to Holmar E. Dominic Siddall came the closest to a win for Ramsbottom when he just lost at eight in the fifth. John Heyes, Nigel Shaw and Graham were the unbeaten Holmar players. Maccabi G lost 2-8 at home to ELPM D and it was only Ashley Landes who could get on the score card for the home side when he beat Mario Piazza in the last set of the night at seven in the fourth. They also won the doubles. Sam Ballin for the home team lost at eight in the fifth against Lawrence Paynter and five in the fifth against Mario Piazza. Adam Gillman also had a close match with Lawrence Paynter only to lose at six in the fifth. Lawrence and Anthony Vindice were unbeaten on the night for ELPM. Shawfield F lost 4-6 at home to Seedfield D. Scott Fleming was unbeaten for the home team but they could only add the doubles to their wins. Three sets went to five with two going Seedfields way. Ian McKenzie, Steve Greenall and Mike Ollerton all won two for Seedfield. BGSOB B lost 4-6 at home to Wardle. Ave Watts won his customary three for the visitors, Harry Barlow and Jack Gratton each added one and they won the doubles. John Greenhalgh and John Rowlands each won two for Bury Grammar.
