DIVISION ONE
Seedfield A drew at home to Ramsbottom Town B. Khamal Hussain was unbeaten for the visitors and Mike Brierley added two. Only one set went the distance which was won at six in the fifth by Seedfield. David Poytress won two, Peter Mears and Julian Nuttall one each. Prestwich A beat their C team 8-2 and Paul King was the unbeaten player on the night for the A team. Ian McLean and Nathan Buckley each added two and they won the doubles. Andy Evans and Dave Bolton each won one for the C team. Unbeaten all season Ramsbottom Town A look certain for another divisional win for their 20th as Ramsbottom A plus three years as Acrebottom/Acrebottom A. Their first win was in 1990. Bury FC won in 1991 and they have then been unbeaten since 1992. An amazing achievement. This week they faced Prestwich B at home and won 8-2. Andy Jackson winning three gives him the top ten medal for the second year in succession. Mark Ramsbottom also won three, Graham Young one and they won the doubles. Paul King and David Pegg both beat Graham Young. BAE got the better of second placed Radcliffe when they beat them 6-4 at home. Tony Smith and Tom Lang each won two for BAE, Tony Bates one and they won the doubles. Unbeaten was Jim Chadwick for Radcliffe and only Rob Hall could add to the total with one more win. Burning Desire lost 3-7 at home to Carlton Club A and keeps them just three points away from a relegation spot with one week of the season to go. Phil Myers was unbeaten for Carlton, Ian Quinn added two, Gary Newton one and they won the doubles. Ben Armstrong, Steve Barber and Fred Turban each won one for the home side.
DIVISION TWO
Prestwich F beat Seedfield B 7-3 at home. Alex Waring and Mike Dunn were unbeaten for Prestwich with Rob Lee adding one. Alan Telfer and Mike Charlton each won one for Seedfield and they won the doubles. Carlton Club B had a very good draw with the second placed team in the division Coburg. Tommy Ryan won three for Carlton including his opening set of the night against Derek Watmough which he won at seven in the fifth. He had an equally long match in his second set against Jimmy Hewitt which he again won in five, eleven four. The doubles was another hard fought set which Coburg won at ten in the fifth. Following the doubles Dave Holden had a marathon against Bob Bent which Dave eventually won seventeen fifteen in the fifth. Derek won two for Coburg, Bob and Jimmy one each and they won the doubles. Elton Vale A lost 3-7 at home to Carlton Club C. Mark Reading was in top form winning his three. John Foster added two, Stuart Carter one and they won the doubles. Graham Daniels won two for the home side and Martin Nicholls added one. Polish Catholic Club lost 3-7 at home to Prestwich E. Eddie Kalinowski won two for the home side and Eddie Robakowski won the other set. Steve Hathaway was unbeaten for Prestwich, Joe Redikin added two, Keith Butler one and they won the doubles.
DIVISION THREE
Shawfield A beat ELPM B 6-4 away and Wayne Ellis was unbeaten for the visitors. Dave Stubbington added two and they won the doubles. Carol Mitchel won two for ELPM, Steve Greaves and reserve Debbie Wilson each won one. Carlton Club D wrapped up the division title with a match in hand when they beat Ramsbottom Town C away by a convincing 9-1 score line. Only Ian Wheeldon for Ramsbottom could stop the white wash when he beat Keith Cheyne. Steve Evans and Andy McNabb were unbeaten which also gives Steve the top ten title with a match in hand.
DIVISION FOUR
Holmar B beat Shawfield E 6-4 at home. James Collier was unbeaten for Shawfield and was only taken the distance once in the night in the last set which he won eleven five in the fifth against John Millington. Scott Norbury added the other Shawfield win when he beat Royston Steventon at eight in the forth. John Millington and Ian Ferrari each won two for Holmar, Royston one and they won the doubles at six in the fifth. Maccabi E lost 2-8 at home to division leaders Bury Grammar School Old Boys A. Barry and Martyn Warburton were unbeaten for the visitors and Andy Evans added two. Peter Canter won one for Maccabi and they added the doubles. Prestwich H won 6-4 at home to Holmar C and finish in runner up spot. Bob Goodman won his customary three and Joe Walk added two. They won the doubles at eight in the forth. Ian Connell almost got on the score card for Prestwich just losing at ten in the fifth to Gary Bolton. Gary was on the losing end in his last set of the night losing at four in the fifth to Joe Walk. David Bell won two for Holmar with Gary Bolton and John Heyes each adding one. Shawfield D lost 3-7 at home to Maccabi D. Scott Marshall was unbeaten for the visitors, Frank Sheldon added two, Jack Nesbitt one and they won the doubles. Barry Collier, Brian Philip and Alistair McIver each won one for Shawfield.
DIVISION FIVE
Fourteen year old Dominic Siddall made sure of his top ten medal with a match to go when he won his three against Bury Grammar B. He is five ahead of second placed David Watts of Wardle. Both players have one match to play so Dominic can’t be beaten. Improving thirteen year old Adam Kenzitt had a fine win against Tim Hope which was only his fourth win of the season. The John’s Greenhalgh and Rowlands each won two, Tim Hope one and they won the doubles.
