Division 1

Carlton Club A drew at home to Little Lever and it was Ronnie Durose who was unbeaten on the night for the visitors. Phil Riley added two. Ian Quinn won two for Carlton, Phil Myers and Gary Newton one each and they won the doubles. Ramsbottom Town A beat Adelphi 8-2 at home and it was Graham Young who lost for the home team to Tommy Ryan at ten in the fifth and Adelphi won the doubles by the same score. Tommy Ryan and Brett Haslam did manage to take a game off top of the averages leader Andy Jackson but he proved too strong on the night and won his three as did Mick Moir. Prestwich A beat Ramsbottom C 7-3 at home and David Pegg led the way for the home team with three wins. Colin Boardman and Dave Cheetham each added two. Martin Wyatt and Dave Kay each won one for Ramsbottom and they added the doubles. Radcliffe Cricket Club beat BAE 8-2 at home and in his only outing so far this season Phil Biggs led the way for the home team with three wins. Wayne Renton and Mick Dore each added two plus they won the doubles. Only Tony Bates could get on the score card of BAE with two wins. St.Philips A lost 3-7 at home to Burning Desire and it was Steve Barber for the visitors who was unbeaten. Ben Armstrong added two, Andy Kaye one and they took the doubles. Dennis Collier won two for the home side and Derek Watmough one.

 

Division 2

Seedfield Methodists B drew at home to Prestwich E, a good result after they lost the first four sets. Julian Nuttall and Andy Hamilton each won two for the home side. Stephen Siddall was unlucky not to win any especially losing at seventeen in the fifth to Simon King who won two for the visitors. Barrie Fleet also won two for Prestwich and Ken Crimes one. Prestwich B demolished Stand 10-0 at home though Chris Sutcliffe for Stand did go the distance with Dave Bolton and Bryan Beer but with Andy Evans the trio proved too strong on the night. Fielding three reserves Maccabi A were struggling from the start until their opposition; St.Philips could only manage to start one player. John Biggins for St.Philips did the best he could on his own by winning his three against Robert Clayton, Frank Sheldon and Ashley Landes and the match score was 7-3 for Maccabi. Prestwich C just beat Polish Catholic Club 6-4 at home. Eddie Simon and Peadar McKinstry each won two for the home side, Joe Redikin one and they added the all important doubles at six in the fifth. Leader of the averages Eddie Simon was made to work for his first win of the night against Ian Byrne which he just won at seven in the fifth. He did however lose his last set of the night to Eddie Kalinowski at six in the forth. Eddie Kalinowski won two for the visitors, Ian Byrne and Eddie Robakowski each won one. Prestwich D beat Carlton Club B 7-3 at home and Barrie Fleet led the way for the home team with three wins, Alex Waring two, Steve Hathaway one and they won the doubles. Mark Reading won two for the visitors and Jim Bloomfield one.

 

Division 3

Seedfield Methodists D drew at home to Maccabi B.They held a five three lead going into the last two sets which were eventually won by Maccabi. Alan Telfer and Frank Carse each won two for the home side and Ali McKernan won one. Neil Fineberg was unbeaten on the night including the last set tussle with Ali McKernan which he eventually won at twelve in the forth to get the draw. Only Melvyne Levene could add to Maccabi’s score with one win and they won the doubles. Elton Vale TT Club lost 4-6 at home and to ELPM B Graham Daniels unusually only won one for the home side but still leads the averages. Martin Nichols and Mark Craven also won one each and they added the doubles. Mark Willmore was unbeaten on the night keeps in touch with the averages and has a match in hand. Paul Carter won two and Steve Greaves one. Holmar A lost 3-7 at home to St.Sebastians and Mark Stevens and Dave Hargreaves for the visitors were unbeaten on the night and added the doubles as well. Phil Wardle, David Fletcher and Ian McPherson each won one for the home team. ELPM C drew at home to Shawfield B but it was Wayne Ellis for the visitors who were unbeaten on the night. He was pushed in his last set of the night against Gill Marsden but eventually winning at seventeen in the forth.  Dave Stubbington added one and they won the doubles. Gill Marsden and John Edge each won two for the home side and Harry Uren added one.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Division 4

Bury Grammar A lost 3-7 at home to Ramsbottom Town D. Martin Ormsby was unbeaten on the night for Ramsbottom, Roger Whewell added two, Paul Wood one and they won the doubles. Barry Warburton won two for the home side and Andy Evans one. Carlton Club C are making a strong challenge for promotion when they won 9-1 at home to Holmar B. Keith Cheyne and Steve Evans were unbeaten on the night for Carlton, John Bostock added two and they won the doubles. Only Jack Berry could get on the score card for Holmar with one win. Holmar C must be wilting near the end of the season when they lost 0-10 at home to Prestwich F. Rod Hughes, Alistair Wakefield and Paul Rourke was unbeaten on the night and they won the doubles. Shawfield C still has an outside chance of a promotion spot and their8-2 beating at home to Maccabi D helped their cause. Ashley Ingham was in top form for the home side with three wins, Roger Snowden and Andrew Webster each added two and they won the doubles. Marc Sheldon and reserve division five Alan Nesbit won one each. Shawfield E beat Seedfield E 8-2 at home and Eric Holmes was unbeaten on the night for the home team. Lauren Brassington and Brian Philip each added two and they won the doubles. Division five reserve Mike Ollerton won the two for Seedfield.

 

Division 5

Seedfield F drew at home with Shawfield F. Adam Simpson led the way for the home side with three wins including at win at ten in the fifth against Peter Helmn, Steve Greenall on and they won the doubles. Peter Helmn and Scott Fleming each won two for the visitors and Jason Wild one. Shawfield G lost 2-8 at home to Holmar D. Michael Eaton won one for the home side and they added the doubles. Gerald Quemeneur and Graham Wardle were unbeaten for Holmar and Alan Fletcher added two. Seedfield G lost 3-7 at home to Bury Grammar B. John’s Rowlands and Greenhalgh were unbeaten for Bury Grammar and they won the doubles. Because they had a guest player Seedfield players each won one. Holmar E lost 1-9 at home against Ramsbottom Academy A. Nigel Shaw was the only home team player to register a win being two games down to Tom Warburton but eventually won at six in the fifth. Nigel took Nick Kroll all the way and just lost at ten in the fifth. Nick managed to win by the same score line against Graham Wardle. Nick and Callan Stott each won their three, Tom Warburton two and they added the doubles. Maccabi F lost 3-7 at home to Prestwich G and both teams are still in the hunt for a promotion spot with Ramsbottom Academy A. Bob Goodman and John Herman of Prestwich were too strong for Maccabi both being unbeaten plus they won the doubles. Alan and Jack Nesbit plus Yoni Morrison each won one for Maccabi. Wardle lost 3-7 at home to top of the table Maccabi E. Dave Watts won two for the home side and they won the doubles. Les Suss was unbeaten on the night for Maccabi with Peter Canter and Edward Freeman each adding two. With only two players Ramsbottom TT Academy B were always going to struggle against ELPM D who eventually won 9-1. Domonic Siddall won the solitary set for the home team beating Mario Piazza in the opening set. Domonic took Lawrence Paynter to a fifth game and eventually lost eleven thirteen.
