DIVISION ONE

Seedfield A lost 1-9 at home to multi divisional champions Ramsbottom A but did have the consolation of Rob Carter for Seedfield beating Graham Young at eleven in the forth for their one win. Mick Moir and Andy Jackson were unbeaten on the night. Prestwich A beat St.Philips A 6-4 at home and it was George Jones who secured the winning set and his third of the night. The match was poised at 5-4 for the home team when Jones played Derek Watmough and won in three straight games. Colin Boardman and Craig Bradbury each added one and they won the doubles. Derek Watmough and Dennis Collier each won two for the visitors and Clive Taylor had to retire injured in his first set of the night. Radcliffe beat Ramsbottom Town C 8-2 away and Nigel Hallows played for the first time this season and won his three though his first set of the night went to five which he won 11-2 against Dave Kay. Mick Dore won two as did Jim Chadwick who dropped a set to Martin Wyatt at nine in the fourth. The doubles went the distance with the Radcliffe winning at seven in the fifth. Martin Wyatt won the two for the home team. Adelphi lost 3-7 at home to Burning Desire. Lee Devenport, Tommy Ryan and Brett Haslam all won one for the home team. Steve Barber won his three for the visitors, Ben Armstrong two, Andy Kaye one and they won the doubles.

 

DIVISION TWO

Polish Catholic Club beat Seedfield B 9-1 on the night and the visitors won the doubles for their only point. Mick Hill, Eddie Kalinowski and Ian Byrne each won their three for the home team. ELPM A beat Prestwich D 7-3 at home and Mark Willmore and John Dawes of the home team caused all the damaged with three wins each. Carol Mitchell added one win. Steve Hathaway and Paul Howarth each won one for the visitors and they won the doubles. Prestwich C drew with their B team but the B team were leading 5-4 going into the last set only for Peadar McKinstry to lose to Andy Evans three straight which gave Evans three wins on the night. Dave Bolton added two for the B team. Eddie Simon won two for the C team, Joe Redikin and Peadar McKinstry one each and they added the doubles. Carlton B drew at home with Prestwich E and all the sets were fairly evenly distributed. Jim Bloomfield and Mark Reading each won two and John Foster one for the home team. Keith Butler won two for the visitors, Ken Crimes and Barrie Fleet one each and they won the doubles.

 

DIVISION THREE

Seedfield C drew at home to Shawfield A. Frank Carse was in fine form for the home team with three wins and the crucial last set at five in the fifth against Terry Shaw. Three other sets went to five and all went the way of the visitors. Mike Charlton added two to the home team but Peter Ingham lost at nine in the fifth against Paul Nutter and four in the fifth against Phil Herd to be without a win on the night. Terry Shaw won two for the visitors, Phil Herd and Paul Nutter one each and they won the doubles at five in fifth. Elton Vale Social Club lost 4-6 at home to ELPM B with the vital doubles being won by the visitors at five in the fifth. Mark Willmore was unbeaten on the night for the visitors, Paul Carter added two and they won the doubles. David Hall won two for the home team, Keith Mills and Frank Green one each. St.Sebastians lost 4-6 at home to Maccabi B despite Dave Hargreaves for the home team winning his three. He had a good win over Neil Fienberg in the last set in three straight games. Only Dave Stevens could add one win for St.Sebastians. Neil Feinberg and Robert Williams won two each for the visitors, Melvyn Levene one and the doubles were won by Maccabi. Shawfield B lost 2-8 to Seedfield D where Dave Stubbington was the only home team player to get on the score card with one win and they won the doubles. Alistair McKernan and Alan Telfer each won three for the visitors and Phil Cooper two. Hilton YMCA continued their struggle this season losing 2-8 at home to Holmar A. Only Chris Naylor and Len Walker managed to win one each for the home side. Phil Wardle won his three for Holmar as did Ian McPherson, reserve Ian Ferrari won one and they added the doubles. Elton Vale TTC continued their good form this season, are ten points clear at the top of the table, Graham Daniels is unbeaten in his first five matches and they added a 9-1 win away at against ELPM C to their points tally this season. Gill Marsden was the only home player to get on the score card with a straight games win against Mark Craven. Graham Daniels and Martin Nicholls won their three for the visitors, Mark Craven two and they added the doubles.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

DIVISION FOUR

Holmar B drew at home to Prestwich F where Alan Hibbert and Jim Eardley each won two and they won the doubles at six in the fifth to give them that vital set. Ian Ferrari was without a win for Holmar and losing at eight in the fifth was the closest he got. Alistair Wakefield was unbeaten on the night and Rod Hughes and Ian Connell each won one. Seedfield E lost 1-9 at home to Shawfield C and just squeezed the doubles at thirteen in the fifth to grab one point. Roger Snowden, Andrew Webster and Peter Gregory each won their three for the visitors. Maccabi D lost 4-6 at home to Ramsbottom Town D. Sheldon Lee won two including at twelve ten win in the fifth in his first match of the night against Roger Whewell. Aubrey Huller and Buz Cohen each added one. Martin Ormsby was on the best form on the night with three wins, Roger Whewell won two and they won the doubles. Shawfield E lost 2-8 at home to Carlton Club C. Lauren Brassington and Brian Philip each won one for Shawfield. John Bostock and Steve Evans each won three for the visitors, Clive Roberts one and they won the doubles. Shawfield D lost 2-8 at home to Holmar C. Barry Collier managed one win for Shawfield and they added the doubles. John Millington and Jack Berry each won three for the visitors and Ian Ferrari two.

 

DIVISION FIVE

Holmar E just beat the all junior team Shawfield 6-4 at home where Graham Wardle was unbeaten for the home team but not without a tussle. Michael Eaton and Sam Burgoyne for the visitors to Graham to five and it was experience that told in the end. John Heyes added two to Holmars score plus they won the vital doubles. Michael Eaton won two on the night for the visitors and Sam Burgoyne and James Aadahl each won one. Holmar D beat Seedfield G 10-0 with Alan Fletcher, David Bell and Gerald Quemeneur unbeaten for the home team. Divisional leaders beat Seedfield 6-4 at home and Bobby Lee continued his good form with three wins and only one loss so far this season. Josh Huglin added two and Louis Samuels one. Mike Ollerton went very close with Bobby Lee and just lost at five in the fifth but won two on the night. Adam Simpson added one and they won the doubles. Prestwich G beat ELPM D 8-2 at home and Bob Goodman and Ian Ross led the way for the home team with three wins each which included an eleven three in the fifth win for Ross against Mario Piazza. Scott Hill added one win to the home team and they won the doubles. Andy Caunce and Lawrence Paynter each won one for the visitors. BGSOB B won 6-4 at home and John Greenhalgh and John Rowlands were on top form for the home team when they each won their three. Scott Fleming, Jason Wild and Peter Helmn each won one for Shawfield and they added the doubles. Wardle beat Maccabi F 6-4 at home with Dave Watts winning his usual three for Wardle, Jack Gratton two and Harry Barlow one. The match could have gone either way because three sets went to five and three more to four. Alan Nesbit won two for the visitors, Jack Nesbit one and they won the doubles. The clash of Ramsbottom TT Academy A verses their B team saw the A team come out on top with a 10-0 win. Tom Warburton for the A team was taken to five by Domonic Siddall and eventually won at four in the fifth. Reece Mitchell dropped a game to Dominic Siddall and eventually came through at ten in the fourth. Callum Stott, Tom Warburton and Reece Mitchell each won their three for the A team and they won the doubles.
