DIVISION ONE

Carlton Club A whitewashed Ramsbottom Town B. Only four sets went to four games. Ian Quinn for Carlton beat Noel Duffy at seven in the fourth then beat Alan Auxilly at two in the fourth. Gary Newton beat Alan Auxilly at three in the fourth and Carlton won the doubles at nine in the fourth. Radcliffe Cricket Club beat Little Lever 6-4 at home. Phil Biggs was unbeaten on the night for Radcliffe, Mick Dore and Rob Hall each won one and they won the doubles. Lee Devenport and Phil Riley each won two for Little Lever. New addition to the team Dennis Collier failed to get on the score card. Prestwich B faced their C team and whilst the B team won 6-4 it was Andy Evans for the C team who was unbeaten. Only Eddie Simon could add to Andy’s wins with one win. Rob Belli and Colin Boardman each won two for the B team, Paul King one and they won the doubles. Ramsbottom Town A beat Seedfield A 9-1 and the sole set for Seedfield was won by David Poytress over Jeff Craighill. Mark Ramsbottom and Andy Jackson were the unbeaten Ramsbottom players. Burning Desire lost 3-7 at home to Maccabi A. Stuart Landes and Louis Rosenthal were unbeaten for Maccabi plus they won the doubles. Ben Armstrong, Andy Kaye and Steve Barber each won one for the home side. BAE lost 3-7 at home to Prestwich A. None of the regular players played for either side. Tony Smith won two for BAE and Ian Gerrard added one. Division two reserve Matthew Evans had a fine win in the last set of the night at ten in the fifth against Tony Smith. Paul King was unbeaten for Prestwich, Mohammed Sagied won two and Prestwich won the doubles at four in the fifth.

 

DIVISION TWO

Seedfield B lost 1-9 to promotion hopefuls Coburg and managed at four in the fifth to get their only point in the doubles. Frank Carse got nearest to an individual win against Coburg when he lost at eight in the fifth to Chris Naylor. All other sets were won in four or less. Derek Watmough and Rob Bent were the other two unbeaten Coburg players. Prestwich F drew at home to Elton Vale A. Alex Waring was unbeaten for the home side. Mohammed Sagied added two. Graham Daniels won two for Elton Vale, Mike Nicholls and reserve Jim Bollard each added one and they won the doubles. ELPM A lost 4-6 at home to Carlton Club C. ELPM were leading four three before Carlton reeled off the last three sets to win. Jim Bloomfield and Mark Reading each won two for Carlton, John Foster one and the just managed the doubles at four in the fifth. Paul Cater was looking for three wins playing his last set of the night but lost at nine in the fifth to Jim Bloomfield. Ian Cockcroft and Gill Marsden each won one for ELPM. Polish Catholic Club just beat Carlton Club B 6-4 and was helped by three wins for Ian Byrne for the home side. The Eddie’s Kalinowski and Robakowski each added one and they won the doubles. Dave Holden and Tommy Ryan each won two for Carlton. Prestwich E lost 3-7 to their D team. Peadar McKinstry was unbeaten for the D team, Gabriel Wilding won two, Bryan Beer one and the won the doubles. Mohammed Sagied won two for the E team and Joe Redikin one.

 

DIVISION THREE

Shawfield B lost 3-7 at home to Prestwich G. Ashley Ingham won two for the home side and Roger Snowden one. Paul Rourke, Alistair Wakefield and Rod Hughes each won two for Prestwich and they won the doubles. Elton Vale b beat Shawfield A 8-2 at home. David Hall was unbeaten for the home side, John Dobb and Jim Bollard each won two and they added the doubles. Dave Stubbington won the two for Shawfield. Ramsbottom Town C lost 1-9 at home to ELPM B and it was a last set win for Tim Fields from the home side who avoided the whitewash. Tim won at nine in the fifth against division four reserve Debbie Wilson who had two fine wins over Martin Ormsby and Paul Wood. Carol Mitchell and Gerry Faulkner were unbeaten for ELPM and they won the doubles at six in the fifth. Paul Wood came close to a second win for Ramsbottom but just lost out at seven in the fifth against Debbie.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

DIVISION FOUR

Bury Grammar School Old Boys A beat Shawfield E 9-1 at home. Lauren Brassington was the only Shawfield player to get on the score card when she beat Andy Evans. Barry and Martyn Warburton were unbeaten for the home side. Prestwich H beat ELPM C 6-4 at home. Bob Goodman won his three for the home side but it wasn’t straightforward. He beat Debbie Wilson at two in the fifth in the opening set of the night then beat John Edge at three in the fifth in the last set of the night. Richard Hinchcliffe also won three for Prestwich. John Edge, Debbie Wilson and Harry Uren of ELPM all beat Ian Connell and they won the doubles at three in the fifth. Maccabi D drew at home with Shawfield C and Frank Sheldon led the way for the home side with three wins. Alan Nesbitt and Aubrey Huller each added one. Phil Herd and Paul Nutter each won two for Shawfield and they won the doubles. Shawfield F lost 2-8 at home to Maccabi F. Daniel Olsberg was in fine form for the visitors winning his three, Adam Gilman and Selwyn Burton each won two and they added the doubles. Mass Khan won the two for Shawfield. David Watts won his customary three in their home draw against Holmar D. Harry Barlow added one and Wardle won the doubles. Jack Berry and John Heyes each won two for Holmar and Graham Wardle one. Shawfield D lost 4-6 at home to Holmar B. Brian Philip won two for Shawfield, Andrew Ingham and Alistair McIver each added one. John Millington and Ian Ferrari each won two for Holmar, Royston Steventon one and they won the doubles.                                                                                                                                                                                                                               

 

DIVISION FIVE

Seedfield D beat new junior team Wardle B 10-0 at home. Wardle were very close to a win in the doubles but just lost at eight in the fifth. Beth Mansfield of Wardle went to four games with Adam Simpson and David Scott of Wardle also went to four against Steve Greenall. Ian McKenzie was the other unbeaten Seedfield player.
