DIVISION ONE

Little Lever beat Seedfield A 8-2 at home with Ronnie Durose and Steve McNicholas being unbeaten on the night. Roy Costello added two to the home teams wins. David Poytress was the only Seedfield player to get on the score card by beating Roy Costello. Seedfield won the doubles. Radcliffe showed their dominance in their home match against Carlton Club A with a 10-0 win. Jim Chadwick, Mick Dore and Wayne Renton each won their three and they won the doubles. Adelphi drew for the second week in a row this time at home to St.Philips A. Lee Devenport and Tommy Ryan each won two for the home side and Brett Halsam won one. Derek Watmough won two for the visitors, Dennis Collier and Clive Taylor one each and they won the doubles. Burning Desire reversed their result of last week and won 8-2 at home to Ramsbottom C. Ben Armstrong and Steve Barber were on top form winning their three for the home side, Andy Kaye added one and they won the doubles. Dave Kaye and Martin Wyatt each won one for the visitors. BAE have lost their venue where they play and have not been able to find an alternative venue at such short notice. BAE will continue playing but only their away fixtures. Will all teams please note.

 

DIVISION TWO

Seedfield B lost 4-6 at home to Prestwich D where Steve Hathaway was on good form winning his three for the visitors. This included two very tight sets which went to five games. Julian Nuttall for Seedfield lost to Hathaway 7-11 in the fifth and Andy Hamilton for Seedfield also lost out to the on form Hathaway at 8-11 in the fifth. Nuttall won one for Seedfield, Hamilton two and they won the doubles. Alex Waring won two for Prestwich and Barrie Fleet one. Prestwich C got the better of their E team where Keith Butler won the only two sets for the E team. Peadar McKinstry was unbeaten on the night for the C team with three wins, Eddie Simon and Joe Redikin each won two and they won the doubles. In a close match Maccabi A narrowly beat ELPM A 6-4 at home with Stuart Landes being unbeaten for the home side. The match was poised at 5-4 for the home side when Stuart Landes played Eddie Darlington and won 11-6 in the fifth to edge the win. Dean Clyne added two for the home side and Alan Meltzer one.  Andy McCheyne won two for the visitors, Eddie Darlington one and they won the doubles. John Dawes lost out narrowly at 4-11 in the fifth to Alan Meltzer and was without a win on the night. Stand suffered a 10-0 loss at home to the established division two team Polish Catholic Club. Stand had the chance of promotion last season which they took but clearly found the opposition too tough. Only four sets went to four games and Mick Hill, Eddie Kalinowski and Ian Byrne were the trio who won their three plus the doubles. St.Philips B drew at home to Prestwich B. Andy Evans was the best player on the night with three wins for the visitors, Dave Bolton added one and they won the doubles. Dave Holden and Dave Scowcroft each won two for the home side and John Biggins one.

 

DIVISION THREE

Ali McKernan won his three for Seedfield Methodists D at home to Holmar A. Phil Cooper added one which meant the home team lost 4-6. Phil Wardle and David Fletcher each won two for the visitors, reserve |Ian Ferrari one and they won the doubles. Elton Sports Club met Elton Vale TT Club (formerly Claybank) and lost 3-7. Graham Daniels won his three for the visitors, Mark Craven two, Martin Nichols one and they won the doubles. David Hall won two for the home team and Keith Mills one. Terry Shaw won his third of the night for Shawfield A at 11-7 in the fifth to give them a 6-4 home win against Hilton YMCA. Phil Herd added two and Paul Nutter one for the home side. Chris Naylor won two for the visitors, Alan Bradshaw one and a vital doubles win at 11-9 in the fifth. Maccabi B beat ELPM C 6-4 at home with Neil Fineberg being on top form for the home side with three wins, Robert Williams two and Melvyn Levene one. John Barker won two for ELPM, John Edge one and they won the doubles. ELPM B beat Shawfield B 6-4 at home and Mark Willmore led the way with three wins, John Dawes two and Gerry Faulkner one. Wayne Ellis won two for the visitors, Dave Stubbington one and they won the doubles.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

DIVISION FOUR

Holmar B were too good on the night when they beat Seedfield E at home 9-1. Only Keith Stott managed to get on the score card for the visitors when he beat Martin Archer in three straight. Alan Hibbert and Jim Eardley each won three for Holmar and they won the doubles. Shawfield C got the better of the E team quite comprehensively with a 9-1 win at home. Five games went to a fifth set and were all won by the C team. Only Lauren Brassington could get on the score card for the E team with a win against Peter Gregory in the opening game of the night. Roger Snowden and Andrew Webster each won three for the C team. Carlton Club had an emphatic 9-1 win away to Holmar C where Ian Ferrari won the only set of the night beating Clive Roberts. John Bostock and Steve Evans each won their three on the night for Carlton. Prestwich F lost 4-6 at home to Maccabi C with Alistair Wakefield winning two for the home side, Rod Hughes one and they won the doubles. Robert Clayton, Frank Sheldon and Les Suss each won two for Maccabi. Maccabi D beat BGSOB A 6-4 at home and Buz Cohen, Aubrey Huller and Marc Sheldon each won two for the home side. Barry Warburton was on his usual good form winning his three and the visitors were only able to add the doubles. Martyn Warburton came so close to a win for the visitors when he lost his last set of the night 10-12 in the fifth and to give Maccabi the win.

DIVISION FIVE

Seedfield F beat Shawfield G 8-2 at home with Jamie Howarth for Seedfield unbeaten on the night. Steve Greenall and Adam Simpson each added two wins for the home team plus they won the doubles. Josh Fallows won the two for the visitors including an 11-6 in the fifth win against Steve Greenall. Wardle comprehensibly beat Seedfield G away 10-0. All were wins in three straight games except John Duxbury of Seedfield took Harry Barlow of Wardle to four games. Looking poised two win their match leading Ramsbottom TT Academy 5-3 with two sets to go Shawfield F lost both of them to end the night with a draw. Jason Wild won two for the home team as did Scott Fleming including a 14-12 fifth game win against Tom Warburton. Peter Helmn added one for Shawfield. Nick Kroll won two on the night for Ramsbottom including an 11-5 in the fifth in his first set, Tom Warburton won two and they won the doubles. League President Bob Goodman made a welcome return to the playing arena for Prestwich G after a long struggle after knee surgery. Bob won three as did Martin Ingram and Prestwich won the doubles against Holmar D. Gerald Quemeneur, Alan Fletcher and David Bell each won one for the visitors. Gerald and Alan both lost narrowly at 10-12 in the fifth against Martin Ingram. Ramsbottom TT Academy B lost 4-6 at home to Holmar E. Five of the six players is new to the League this year and ‘veteran’ and League Treasurer Graham Wardle led the way with three wins for the visitors and John Heyes added two. John’s daughter Alison found the going a bit tough but the visitors added the doubles to secure the win. 12 year old Domonic Siddall had two wins including a fine fight back in his last set of the night to come from two games down to win in five against John Heyes. 14 year old twins Olivia and Bethany Wallis had one win each in their ‘debut’ in the League. BGSOB B won 7-3 at home to Maccabi F. Graham Hilton and John Greenhalgh each won three for the home team plus they won the doubles. Alan Nesbit, Yoni Morrison and Ashley Landes each won one for the visitors. Maccabi E had a fine 9-1 win away to ELPM D where Andy Caunce was the only home team player to get on the card when he beat Edward Freeman. Antony Vindice tried to add to ELPM’s wins but lost out at 3 in the fifth to Peter Canter who won his three for the visitors as did Bobby Lee. Edward Freeman added two plus they won the doubles.
