1 Chairman

FS took the chair.

2 Rubbers & glues

The meeting was convened at short notice as an urgent issue had arisen Rumours had been reported to be circulating that a Prestwich player had been banned for the use of illegal glues. It was agreed to put a notice on the website and circulate an email to the effect that the rumour was untrue. There had been correspondence with the ETTA about the League rules concerning rubbers. Apparently our rule was not valid as the ETTA allowed any rubbers that complied with the ETTA approved laws. The ETTA had made a mess of this as advice had been given to leagues that was incorrect and the picture was somewhat confused now. In the light of the correspondence it was agreed to notify players that any legal rubber was allowed, but ITTF approved ones were preferred by the League. It was hoped that clarification would be forthcoming from the ETTA but things did not look promising at present.

3 Tournament

The usual arrangements had been made – booking the hall, application form in the handbook and on the website, preparations on the day, return of trophies etc. The start time would be emphasised in notices.

4 President

A decision on the proposed new President of the League, following the death of George Lomax, was postponed.

5 Treasurer and Accounts

KB and KW would contact PH to find out the status of the 2007/8 accounts and whether he wished to continue as Treasurer.

6 Ramsbottom Academy

Adam Bleakley was doing an excellent job coaching at the Academy. Two more players were going to take the ETTA coaching course.

7 Next meeting

To be confirmed.
