The 2012 Championships were played at Radclyffe Athletics Centre, Oldham with the finals night to be played at Elton Vale Sports Club on Tuesday 17th April 2012. The results were as follows:

Mens Open Singles Semi Finals

SF1 - Graham Jeffries vs Martin Wyatt

Graham Jeffries just won at 9 in the fifth!

SF2 - Mick Moir vs Mick Dore

Mick Moir beat Mick Dore to progress to the final

In the Final Mick went 2 games down then took the next 4 to be champion for the 7th Record Equaling time. Derek Hutchinson won 7 between 1952 and 1963.

Over 50's Final

Mark Ramsbottom vs Phil Biggs

Mark Ramsbottom had a 'walk over' with Phil Biggs who failed to turn up for the match

Over 60's Final

Tommy Ryan vs Dennis Collier

Tommy Ryan beat Dennis Collier, JUST at 9 in the fifth!

Junior Singles Final

Dean Clyne vs Amir Hussain

Dean Clyne proved just a bit to strong (and taller) than 8 year old Amir Hussain who is clearly a star for the future.

Doubles Final

Martin Wyatt & Dave Poytress vs Khamal Hussain & Mick Moir

A few 'Honourable Mentions' & Bullet Points about the day

We are checking the record books but we think Amir Hussain has become the youngest person in the history of the Bury League to win a trophy. Congratulations to Amir for this and for making the junior competition final.

Lee Devenport produced an outstanding display to knock out multi time champion Andy Jackson in the mens singles.

Martin Wyatt also produced a terrfic performance to knock out multi time champion Mark Ramsbottom in the mens singles.

Despite only being paired up on the morning of the event Dave Poytress & Martin Wyatt defeated former finalists Graham Jeffries & Steve McNicholas and Defending Champions Tony Smith & Tony Bates to make the doubles final.

"Marathon Man" Dennis Collier played 16 matches in just 5 hours including winning the Division 1 Handicap & Qualifying for the Over 60's final.

Andy Evans fluked his way to the Division 1 Handicap Final but was beaten (stuffed).
